Hi! Hello! Hi, friend! Spring is nearly springing, and crocuses and snowdrops are poking through the leaves and undergrowth everywhere. I might be on antihistamines already, but I’m really enjoying the strolls through the forest and the fields this time of the year, when everything smells like its coming alive!
March, so far, has been characterized by book fair prepping, finishing some bigger projects, making appointments, planning the trip, and cleaning my portfolio for the fair. Still, I managed to do some just-for-fun drawings in between, did my first-ever screen printing, found a TV series that I really, really, really like (which doesn’t happen often), AND deleted some of my online accounts to destress and declutter.
Inky Times
To ignore the preparations for the Bologna Book Fair for a while, I started testing a brush I had never used before and gave myself ten minutes to draw an illustration. I believe I was way faster than that, so I made a bunch. Here are two of them:
One of my inky black-and-white experiments also morphed into my first-ever screen-printing experiment, which turned out quite well — I think.
My dear friend Judith, who is a screen-print aficionado, taught me how to do it. It was way easier than I thought and twice as fun as expected. Here it is. It is, of course, a mushroom.
Bye Bye Gram
I finally did it! I deleted my Instagram, LinkedIn, and Cara accounts. A lot has been said about the state of social media these days (especially about Instagram), and I won’t get into that rant here. For me, it just became too much to maintain all of the accounts, and I deleted the ones I liked using the least. Now it’s done. Over. Sigh of relief.
Recommendations Corner
I’m obsessed with Resident Alien. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a sci-fi comedy about an alien crash-landing on Earth (in a small town, of course) with the mission to wipe out all of mankind. The series is super funny, sweet, kind, and cute—and even funnier… plus, Alan Tudyk plays the alien, and Linda Hamilton may appear at some point. 😄 So if you’re into sci-fi, kindness, and laughing, I’d definitely recommend it.
Mr. S’ Meow Corner
Before I have to start writing lists for what to pack for Bologna (so I don’t forget any chargers, books, pens, allergy meds, or my toothbrush), I’ll leave you with a picture of Mr. S. enjoying life. He’s doing very well these days.
Until next time! Wishing you a wonderful rest of March and a relaxed stroll into spring.
Stay spooky,
Tini
